Dear Sir / Madam
Fiscal Intergovernmental Relations
The Welsh Parliament’s Finance Committee is currently undertaking an inquiry into Fiscal Intergovernmental Relations. As part of the inquiry terms of reference, the Committee wishes to examine international examples of intergovernmental relations (IGR) structures and identify areas of good practice relating to collaborative working on fiscal matters.
In the UK, IGR refers to engagement between ministers and officials from the UK Government, Welsh Government, Scottish Government and Northern Ireland Executive. It covers multilateral and bilateral channels, including both formal and informal engagement.
Therefore, I wonder whether you would be willing to assist the Committee in its work and provide a summary of how the IGR structures function in relation to [the Italian Government and the Regions of Italy; the Government of Spain and the autonomous Communities of Spain; the Australian Government and the State and Territorial governments; and the Government of Canada and the Canadian Provinces and Territories] and how these structures facilitate the allocation of funding in a transparent and timely manner. If so, it would be very helpful to receive your response by 10 July 2024.
Yours sincerely,

Peredur Owen Griffiths MS,
Chair of the Finance Committee
